Being an artist in the 21st century comes with an undercurrent of pressure, especially in the age of hypervisibility and online performance. There's often an expectation that we must become political commentators, particularly when global events erupt. But here's my truth: I care deeply about the state of the world. I read, I learn, I engage. But I don't believe that caring always has to look like posting.
For me, art is about resonance, not reaction. The moment politics becomes a mandatory lens, it risks stifling the nature of creation. I don’t believe art has to be overtly political to have power. Sometimes, choosing to capture and share beauty is its own form of protest; a rebellion against hopelessness, a call back to balance.
I’ll speak up when my spirit moves me. I’ll share resources if they feel aligned. But I won’t perform outrage to appease the timeline. As artists, we deserve the space to create from sincerity, not from guilt or pressure. That’s not silence; that’s self-respect
